I didn't know it when I picked out this outfit, but this will always be what I wore when my Husband accepted a great new career opportunity! He has worked so hard and so persistently to achieve his successes, and I am infinity proud of him! What to do with our situation has been weighing so heavily on us for the last few weeks, and this has taken a huge weight off our shoulders. Sort of like cutting giant 80s-tastic shoulder pads out of an old jacket!
As for the outfit, I was trying to play with some fun ways to dress up a basic black/grey dress. I think this may have actually have been better with a black belt to allow the jacket to really pop. Look at me playing with neutrals again! Ah personal growth, sometimes you can't escape it!

Today my company had a great win. We have all worked (for lack of a better term) our butts off to get some business, and today we got word that we won it. That's a nice mark in the "W" coloum for us. Sometimes hardwork and an awesome team really do win!
I liked this outfit because it is a bit of a pattern mix even though pinstripes are technically a "neutral". This is still pretty much my favorite shirt ever, so I always feel great wearing it.

27 was a good year for me, but that year is now over. Welcome to the 28th year. That is how old I am right? sometimes I actually forget. If I'd told my 10 and 3/4 self that one day I'd actually forget how old I am I'd call myself crazy.
Crazy, I was crazy once.

I love the print of this top, but it is made with elastic at the bottom to create a bubble hem for the shirt. I have struggled to put this with anything other than a high waisted skirt. So this is my first attempt at wearing it this way. I suppose it would be better with a blazer for a nice structured shape. I'm also considering taking the elastic out to make it not balloon anymore. To balloon or not to balloon.

I was watching some What Not to Wear the other night. I remember my sister/shopping buddy and I watching episode after episode of this show on a Saturday night. Yea... we are wild! They were, as always, teaching someone the art of putting an outfit together, and it went something like this:
Interesting Print + Neutral + Pops of Color = Fashionable Outfit
Its seems too simplified, but it really does work. Sometimes I get so caught up in playing with color combinations and doubling my necklaces that I forget how powerful neutrals can be. The grays really help to make the print the stand out. I officially have a new found/renewed appreciation for neutrals.

Pendant Necklace: Honeymoon Souvionoir

If you've been around this week, you've seen me wearing this necklace a lot (once, twice, three times)! Sometimes it functions a bit like a security blanket when life is uncertain.
This is my first time ever wearing more than one necklace. I think it works pretty well. I'll have to play around with this more often!

Dress: c/o Sway Chic
Booties: Express
After some interesting couple of days, Hubby and I decided a date night was in order. Sway Chic sent me this amazing dress, and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try it out. Don't you love the way it scoops down in the back? Perfect for wearing your hair up. I chose not to do much with accessories because I think there is enough texture and pattern going on in the dress itself. I know it isn't fall yet, but I couldn't resist trying my sequined booties with this dress. So fun!
I think it is definitely too short to wear in a professional setting. I have some other plans for wearing this with tights to circumvent the issue of length. I'm also going to try putting a skirt over it and wearing it as a top. How would you wear it?

The morning light is getting more and more interesting all the time. I think it looks like I took these pictures while standing in front of the sun. I'm not as close to the sun as it looks, but maybe I'll pretend I'm hangin' out on Mars with the rover and its lasers! Now that would be cool!

Today, Hubby and I were blindsided by life, and this is what I was wearing! Every now and then a good outfit can keep a bad day from being a total bust. I love the way the leopard shoes play against the extra lengthy tealy pencil skirt. Somehow leopard print seems unimportant today. Don't worry - leopard print will be important again tomorrow!

I love the way khaki green and yellow play together. They are like BBFs now! I think this jacket is funky, but I'm sort of a fan of the funkiness. Who's got the funk? I do. I do.

I had a completely different outfit on this morning. I was almost out the door when I decided I hated what I was wearing. Sometimes when you find yourself in a jam, some really great creativity swoops in to save the day. I'm fairly happy with this pattern mix and color combo. The lace is always a nice touch too!
Also the awesome people at Swaychic.com sent me this unique inspired bracelet. I love that its both chunky and antique-ish! Yes that is a word... that I just made up.

Apparently all the cool kids are wearing shirts with the shoulders cut out. Do you think this could be the definition of the opposite of shoulder pads? I think it might.
Believe it or not, I actually have a bit of a pattern mix going on. My skirt is a tiny plaid and clearly my sans-shoulder top is flower-licious.
